Running a business is rarely simple, especially in the restaurant business when the margins of a a hit eating place are continuously just 1–2 percent. So it’s no surprise that a Dirt Dog franchisee in Las Vegas wanted to do a little extra to get a few more customers than on a normal Saturday, which is why they determined to host Bluey Day! at their Rainbow Blvd location.

However, what must had been a fun Bluey event for kids, parents, and Dirt Dog personnel quickly morphed into what some have described as a “horror show” with crying children, indignant parents, and an overworked personnel. So what really happened on that fateful Bluey day?

A Las Vegas Dirt Dog franchise made up our minds to host Bluey Day on May 11, 2024.

On May 11, 2024, the Las Vegas Dirt Dog set up a Bluey Day event from 11 a.m. to a few p.m. as a way to attract in extra customers. In the official Facebook event, which is where they most commonly advertised and communicated with consumers, they wrote: “Celebrate Bluey with Us!! Marathon of all of the Bluey episodes! Meeting Bluey & Friends / Face portray / Games & Special Bluey Treats.”

The event by no means claimed to be an official Bluey sponsor or collaborator, nor did they say there can be any kind of unfastened giveaways. They simply made a loose event on Facebook to percentage that they’d do a Bluey-themed day at their Dirt Dog location. In all equity, eating places and other kinds of companies do this type of thing always!

Bluey event at the Dirt Dog

When I worked at a restaurant, we promoted themed pictures of the day based on present occasions to take a look at to attract in a couple of additional shoppers. But by no means would we've anticipated other folks to line up in plenty just for a little unfastened specifically themed event. Even with the Facebook event’s 3,000 RSVPs, a Facebook RSVP can in most cases imply nothing and result in a no-show, so it’s not loopy that Dirt Dog and its staff have been unprepared for the mob of oldsters and tots to come back.

The Bluey event went horribly wrong when thousands of oldsters and youngsters showed up.

The event used to be so popular that KVVU-TV even showed up to record at the chaos it briefly morphed into. “They anticipated a few dozen folks and regulars,” they reported, “Thousands RSVPed. Hundreds of families were left fuming, children were disenchanted … The eating place … underestimated the ability of Bluey.”

The eating place most probably concept, Let’s do a themed event for a TV show children love to carry in some households! How about ‘Bluey’? with out knowing anything else about how common Bluey is amongst parents and youngsters. It’s one of the most few presentations today that parents can undergo to observe and that still holds children’ attentions long sufficient that parents can in fact get some issues done. So there’s a lot of affection for Bluey from everyone in the circle of relatives.

As the event overcrowded, households waited in line in the searing warmth for generally priced meals, a unfastened face-painting booth, and homemade Bluey-themed goods while a Dirt Dog worker dressed in a makeshift Bluey gown greeted (and scared) the kids. One traumatized kid instructed the inside track, “He seemed, like, unexpected. We could see his beard.”

Parents are enraged by means of how Dirt Dog treated the event, but others support the established order, which was once quick to make amends.

After the event passed off, folks took to the Facebook event’s page to air their grievances. “When you order your Bluey event from Wish,” one woman wrote at the event, roasting the organizers. Another commented, “This was horrible and a waste of time. You p----- off a community of fogeys. I'll never be again to your establishment. My daughter was tremendous disillusioned.”

Parents referred to as the event “false advertising” and a “scam” to get folks into the restaurant because there have been “no friends of Bluey” and the watch birthday party used to be simply episodes streaming in the eating place on mute. By the time many of us arrived, the face-painting provides had run out, as had the loose baked goods.

But from the eating place’s reaction, it’s clear that they had no unwell intentions! They in an instant shared an apology, and the head of the franchise is allegedly working with the legitimate Bluey crew to create a well-executed event. Can we blame a little eating place for seeking to carry a little additional joy to their shoppers?

Sure, the execution used to be no longer nice, but it surely’s no longer like they have been trying to scam folks out of money, just like the since-compared Fyre Festival. It was a unfastened event with elementary data that anybody will have organized! Clearly, the official Bluey workforce used to be not involved, and for those who’re going to drive an hour just for a local restaurant’s unfastened home-brewed Bluey event and get disenchanted when it’s lower than Disney World's par, that’s on you.
