The bodies on the surface were spread out over a 50 mile radius due to a hurricane, and some assume it is conceivable that very same hurricane could have also scattered the bodies on the ocean ground.

Others think that there should be some stays still trapped inside the ship, even if they have not been discovered yet.

The actual standing of those stays would most likely rely on how uncovered they were to the oxygenated water of the open ocean and to the many scavengers that may select at their stays. If there are bodies in sealed off rooms inside the ship, they may still be in rather preserved condition.

Some other people assume any bodies on the Titanic would have degraded way back.

Although some suppose it is imaginable that there are preserved remains, others, together with James Cameron, assume that's not going.

We've noticed clothes," he said. "We've noticed footwear. We've seen pairs of shoes, which would strongly suggest there used to be a body there at one point. But we have never seen any human stays."

Of course, the question then becomes a bit didactic. A shoe may not be a body, but it certainly suggests that there were bodies down there at some point.
