Search efforts continued for a number of days, with the search and rescue effort re-classified to a restoration challenge as it was more apparent Naya had no longer survived. On July 13, 2020, authorities confirmed they had discovered and recognized Naya's body in Lake Piru. In a sad twist of fate, the date officers discovered Naya’s body was once also the seventh anniversary of Cory Monteith's death.

While Melissa Benoit, who played Marley Rose on Glee, did not title the former spouse who bodily and emotionally abused her, a timeline of her relationship with ex-husband and Glee co-star Blake Jenner makes it appear likely Blake (Ryder Lynn) was the romantic partner in query.
