'Shiny Happy People' Director and EP Share Why Duggars Are Simply "The Vehicle" Into Docuseries (EXC

Prime Video's 'Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets' is not only about the Duggar family and the director and EP of the docuseries explain why.

When the Prime Video docuseries Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets was once announced, many figured they would already heard all they needed to about the now notorious fact TV family. But is Shiny Happy People actually about the Duggars and the Duggars alone? Distractify spoke completely with the docuseries' director and executive manufacturer Olivia Crist and govt producer Blye Pagon Faust about their vision and the tale they might was hoping to inform.

Shiny Happy People is ready the Christian church organization the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP), the Duggar family's connection to it, and the family's section in helping it develop into mainstream. Director / EP Olivia Crist defined that once she fell down a "rabbit hole" of information relating to survivors of the IBLP, she felt moved to make the docuseries and shed extra gentle on one thing that the mainstream international, outside of the faith, appeared to know little or no about.

"What really kind of drew me into this story is when I kind of fell down a rabbit hole of research with the IBLP," she stated. "And that brought me to a site called Recovering Grace. And, you know, you start to hear some of the survivors' stories. And I think that's really the motivator for getting the show off the ground."

Although Shiny Happy People isn't just about the Duggar family, it does contact on the primary moments in the circle of relatives's historical past on tv. From their first TLC special to the cancellation of 19 Kids and Counting and its by-product Counting On, which was later canceled amid Josh Duggar's arrest and conviction for ownership of kid sexual abuse materials, the Duggars have remained in the public eye for better or for worse.
