We first meet her on the end of the primary season as one of Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan)’s comedy heroes. Sophie is an example of a successful feminine comic, which was once uncommon in the technology. ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ comedienne Sophie Lennon appears to be loosely based on Phyllis Diller, amongst other comediennes.

Phyllis Diller used to be known for her outrageous and self-deprecating housewife personality. She did this for identical causes that Sophie Lennon assumed the function of an overweight clownish housewife.
